For those who may be interested I have attached a grab of my sketchup model of Ashburton. work is still in progress, but it has already thrown up a some interesting problems, that would only have come to light on construction. If anybody would like a copy of the file I will post it

mainly things you forget about like road levels rising and falling which you can see on the attachment, I made a sight visit in the summer and took loads of photos, but I didn't realise how much the site slopes away.
I also have nothing on Tuckers mill apart from old photos, so I will scale off them

I wish I was skilled with computer graphics! Sketchup http://www.sketchup.com/ is free for the basic version and it really is easy to use, give it a go
You can move round the entire model in 3D, so In effect you build a model on the computer before building it in scale!.
The advantage is that I have drawings of each building that I can print and work off etc

Absolutely nothing to do with model railways, but I've just downloaded Sketchup and have an immediate use for it!  At work, we are probably about to move into a new unit which is currently a massive empty cavern.  Sketchup will be perfect for laying it out :D
