For those who may be interested I have attached a grab of my sketchup model of Ashburton. work is still in progress, but it has already thrown up a some interesting problems, that would only have come to light on construction. If anybody would like a copy of the file I will post it | ||

Stumpytrain wrote:Looks good! What problems have you found? Alex mainly things you forget about like road levels rising and falling which you can see on the attachment, I made a sight visit in the summer and took loads of photos, but I didn't realise how much the site slopes away. I also have nothing on Tuckers mill apart from old photos, so I will scale off them |

Alex I wish I was skilled with computer graphics! Sketchup http://www.sketchup.com/ is free for the basic version and it really is easy to use, give it a go You can move round the entire model in 3D, so In effect you build a model on the computer before building it in scale!. The advantage is that I have drawings of each building that I can print and work off etc |

Absolutely nothing to do with model railways, but I've just downloaded Sketchup and have an immediate use for it! At work, we are probably about to move into a new unit which is currently a massive empty cavern. Sketchup will be perfect for laying it out |
