I've recently downloaded Templot  V.  2.06.d.

Having played about with it awhile, whilst trying to design track and turnouts for OO9, I've found it excellent (sleeper sizes, rail width, etc.).

However, I can only do these things whilst in Gauges/Other Gauges/ custom-a.

How do I save my rail settings so I can use them again? I would like to see my settings, i.e OO9, replacing custom-a, as a new Gauge Name, in my case.

I have tried importing a BMP/JMP file of track layout but cannot find a way of overlaying any new designed track over it. Every link I try is either not available, or is being working on.

Any help please?

Cheers

Tom

Hi Tom,

Welcome to Templot Club. :)

Try this:

1. gauge > other gauges... menu item.

2. click set custom: > a button (top left).

3. enter a suitable name for the custom gauge/scale, e.g. 009, and click OK.

4. click the green bar -- enter custom settings individually.

5. enter the settings requested.

6. when the full gauge list reappears, click OK.

7. the gauge name will now be showing "009" in the info panel, and the settings will have been applied to the control template.

8. make whatever further settings are required to create your 009 template -- timber lengths, etc.

The way to save any settings in Templot is to store and save a template containing them.

9. press the INSERT key on the keyboard or click the top tool button having orange double down arrows.

You now have a copy of the control template on the background and in your storage box.

10. click the main > save all templates... menu item, enter a suitable file name and save the file.

11. next time you want to use this template, click the main > reload/add from file... menu item, and select the saved file.

12. the template will reappear on the background. Click on it, and then on its menu which appears on the left, click delete to the control menu item.

Continue your design work. :) Store and save it again as required.

When you get more experienced you can store such templates as library templates, usually in their own files. This makes it easier to find them again among the hundreds of other templates you will have created by then. :)

To work with library templates, try this:

1. click main > store as library template menu item.

2. the storage box will appear, with this template identified in green.

3. click the save all... button (on the right).

4. enter a suitable file name and save the file.

-------------------

Start again some time later:

1. click the main > reload/add from file... menu item.

2. select the file which you saved.

3. click the main > storage box menu item.

4. find the green library template which you stored (if there is more than one template in the box).

5. click the copy to the control template button.

6. continue your design work.

regards,

Martin.
