I should perhaps have entitled this 'I must be mad', however for my sins I will be doing a trackmaking demonstration at York show next weekend. I will be building some turnouts and plain track, some of it on Templot printouts. I will not be demonstrating Templot itself because a) I am not sufficently experienced to do it justice and b) I won't be able to access the Knavesmire stand Wifi to get the connection. I have been a regular demonstrator at York for the last eleven years but have previously done painting and lining. Having run out of models to paint unless I spend time I haven't got building more etched coaches I offered to do a trackwork demonstration. I will have a selection of prototype information to guide me as I have the trackwork book from Edgar Allen and Summersons book on sidings. I also have several editions of Permanent Way/British Railway Track and information from the International Railway Congress papers on the standardisation of rail joints. So anyone visiting York Show over Easter please make yourselves known. I'm on stand 42 on the first floor mezzanine in the demonstrators area. Regards John Arkell |
