Hi Martin
There is the option to draw, clear, or set boundary rectangle, but I think there is no option to save the boundary.
Is it possible to add a save function to a later version of the software, or to save it with the sketchpad file, to save having to redraw it each time?
Thanks
Arthur

Hi Arthur,

Thanks for that. Saving the boundary rectangle is on my to-do list. I've hesitated because where to save it isn't too obvious -- we have a choice of BGS file, BOX file, SK9 sketchboard file, program preferences, or a separate file of its own. There are several pros and cons for each of those. :?

The background shapes are intended primarily for baseboard and room outlines, so the boundary rectangle fits most logically into the BGS file -- although that would mean quite a lot of new coding and I was hoping not to re-work that dialog yet again. The easiest to do would be the SK9 file, but the boundary rectangle is not exclusively for the sketchboard -- it is also used for exported image files. Having to start the sketchboard and load a sketchboard file just to get back the boundary rectangle for an exported file is about as non-intuitive as it gets. :(

I will ponder this a bit more and then do something about it. :)

Thanks again.

regards,

Martin.

Thanks for that Martin.
For me, the box file would be the most useful, as I often want to see the limits of the available space, whereas I often work with Sketchboard switched off, as it take time to pan/zoom when I am modifying the track.
It does not seem worth doing a lot of re-coding just to store it in BGS, when it will work just as well in the box file.
But others may think differently?
All the best, Arthur

Hi Martin,

The way that I use TEMPLOT is probably not typical - basically I just use it to make construction templates and to design the more complex track formations. I do not draw complete layout plans in TEMPLOT. For this reason I never use the sketch board and only use the background shapes where I need to be concious of some proximate obstruction.

Having boundary rectangles saved in the BOX file would work well for my use of TEMPLOT and would probably minimize my use of background shapes.

Regards,

Glen
