I have just tried to open Templot2 after not using it for several weeks. It came up with the message that I did not have the latest version and after clicking ok a couple of times I got the update screen. I clicked the update message, confirmed that I wished to save it and got the message that the downloads were complete.

However, on clicking my icon again I got the same 'not latest version' message.

What am I doing wrong or have I missed something in this process?

Note that I am using neither Norton or Windows 8.

Hi David,

After downloading the file you must run (open) it to install the updated version.

Select the Run option or double-click on the saved file after downloading it.

regards,

Martin.

Thanks, Martin. It has now worked but my plea would be that the requirement to 'run' is not immediately apparent on the screen. Perhaps an additional note on the screen would be helpful.

Hi David,

Yes, ok I will do that. Thanks for the suggestion.

Martin.

Hi Martin,

I cannot open Templot now, and am receiving the message that I am not running the latest version of Templot2. I have attempted several times to re-download the current version, but to no avail.

Martin,

I did a full Templot removal from my PC and then re-installed and now it opens without any issue.

Hi Ian,

I don't believe there was any need to do that. :)

If you get that message when I haven't posted any note about a new update, it means the UK server is throwing a wobbly, but hasn't actually gone down. (If it goes down, Templot checks the USA server instead.)

Just wait say 10 minutes and then try again.

I noticed your messages spanned midnight, so no doubt some sort of server maintenance was in progress.

In the next update I have changed the code so that if anything is amiss in the UK server connection, even if it is still up and responding, Templot goes to the USA server anyway.

Sorry for any inconvenience.

regards,

Martin.

Morning Martin,

I think it was about 23:45 when it first occurred and it wasn't until 00:12 that I managed to get Templot back. It did seem strange (coincidental) that as soon as I removed it I was able to then download. Hopefully it was just the midnight gremlins.

Ian
