There seems to be an oddity when you try to select text on the Templot digests.  If you try to select text starting at the beginning of a line, as soon as you click it selects the whole of the rest of the message.  The only way I can select just a line or two, is to go to the end of the portion of text I want and work back to the start point. Selection then works fine.    I do not have this problem with other message sites.

The other problem is exactly the same on both Templot and SEMG digests.  When there is a web link only part of the link is highlighted  e.g. I see on the digest:-
http://85a.co.uk/forum/view_topic.php?id=1511&forum_id=17&jump_to=15570#p15570
- so if you click on the link it tries to find http://85a.co   which, of course, does not work.  The full stop seems to stop the rest of the link being recognised.

I am on Windows 7,  Mozilla Firefox and Gmail.

Has anyone else come across this problem and is there a solution?
Thanks, Arthur

Hi Arthur,

I don't use webmail so I can't be much help.

Selecting text with the mouse is often tricky. Try using the keyboard instead, like this:

1. press the F7 key. This turns on caret browsing so that you can see the flashing caret (cursor) on a text page in your browser.

2. click (and release) where you want to start selecting text. Try not to move the mouse while clicking.

3. hold down the SHIFT key.

4. move the flashing caret by pressing or holding down the arrow keys on the keyboard. The down arrow will select a full line with each press. The right arrow will select one letter at a time (or a whole word at a time if you hold down the CTRL key too).

5. release the SHIFT key.

6. press CTRL+C to copy the selected text.

The URL links are sent in the digest emails as plain text. It is gmail which converts them to clickable links. If that is not working correctly it must be a bug in gmail. There is probably a gmail users forum where you can report it and see if others are seeing the same problem.

regards,

Martin.
