Snap fix is excellent, but I want to do a non circular circuit.  How do I get the last template to snaps at both ends so the circuit is complete and the rails nicely aligned?

Thanks,

Richard

You can't you have to create a transition between the last two sections of track.

Hi Richard,

Snapping can only snap the existing current/control template as it stands. To link between two existing tracks you need a function which can create a new template to fit.

The usual way to do that is to use the make transition* function, as Alan explained. There is a tutorial showing how it works at:

http://www.templot.com/martweb/info_files/make_trans.htm

(In para 2., replace "Using the peg and notch functions" with "Using the peg and notch functions or by F7 snapping".)

Also the make transition function is used several times in this video:
overlaid track on a scan (long) 28.5Mb

(*until cubic curves are available in a later version of Templot, and then I wouldn't necessarily recommend using them. A proper transition curve is always better if you can get one to fit.)

regards,

Martin.
