Hello,

I could use a little help with my latest challenge.  I have a template  from a book.  I have been able to match the geometry of the switch and v-crossing very closely.  I am not starting to work on the timber.  This design has equalized timber which extends further into the branch road then templot allows me to configure.  I have searched for a number of features to allow the template to be extended - to no success

Also,  Not shown in the image above is the entry to the turnout.  The timbers are square to the line until after the 26h timber when the equalization starts abruptly.  I have a a couple more templates to copy.  Is there an easy way to build 2 templates with and without timber equalization and then select various timbers for a final copy.

This is a 1:87 scale HO-NMRA gauge template.

Hi Paul,
This design has equalized timber which extends further into the branch road than Templot allows me to configure.
Click the real > timbering > exit track > exit timbered menu option, and the do > turnout road > long menu option:

Alternatively, any individual timber can be adjusted for size, length, angle, position, etc., using the shove timbers function. The exit sleepers in your screenshot could each be lengthened and twisted, to match the long timbers.

Click the real > shove timbers... menu item, or SHIFT+F10, or just press the COMMA key on UK keyboards.

To select a timber for shoving, click on its number, not on the timber itself. For full details about using this function click the ? help button on the dialog.

Here's an example of some extreme timber shoving: :)

Is there an easy way to build 2 templates with and without timber equalization and then select various timbers for a final copy.
Store each template as a library template in the file and select each one as required from the storage box. main > store as library template menu item, main > storage box menu item or CTRL+B.

regards,

Martin.

Another option is to have two templates. Copy the first one, move the peg to positon 9, set the timbers to equalised and then use <ctrl>F3 to blank out the beginning of the turnout using the mouse to blank out up to and including timber 26. Store and background this template, delete the original template to the control, make sure the peg is on position 0 or 1, then reduce the length of the turnout using F4.

However, this is a last stage operation, which assumes you have sorted out the alignment, etc of all the roads, as any changes to the templates in terms of geometry will need to be made separately to both. (You can align one template over another, of course, but you may need to re-do the blanking operation.)

HtH,

Simon

Thanks Martin,

I know you have other things to do and I thank you for an early response. I will try this later in the day.

Paul
