HELP!

I created several turnout templates and stored them in individual box files.

I started a new project and then attempted to add the stored templates as additional templates.
I also attempted to add the stored templates as library templates.
The first template loaded appears OK in the storage box which then looks like this:
54_101119_050000000.png54_101119_050000000.png
The  "add library" button is then clicked and a second file selected and opened - as I understand the current documentation, this should add it to the storage box and the list of library templates.
The storage box then looks like this:
54_101121_140000000.png54_101121_140000000.png
So, second template appears - BUT - the first template has gone!

The same problem occurs when the "add file" option is used.

I have tried this several times with Templot being quit and restarted so there is no left over from the previous attempt or other templates loaded.

Is this a problem with Templot's file handling or have I missed something obvious?

Any assistance appreciated - thanks.

Following on from my previous post, I tried loading an existing project and adding a stored template to it.  This is the storage box immediately after adding the template:

54_101146_140000000.png54_101146_140000000.png

So there appear to be 9 templates in the storage box.  This is what happens when the right arrow is clicked to look at template number 9:

54_101147_350000000.png54_101147_350000000.png

The number of templates has gone back to 8 and the newly loaded template is not on the list - although its filename is still displayed near the top of the storage box.

So, why is the new template not appearing in the storage box?

Again, any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

Bill Campbell.

Hi Bill,

I think you saved the files without first storing the control template in the storage box.

Storing a template and saving a file is not the same thing. Templates can only appear in the storage box if they have been stored. Before saving the file, click this button or press the INSERT key to store the control template:

2_101220_340000000.png2_101220_340000000.png

I made a change in Templot2 to include the control template in .box files, but I fear that I have not properly explained it or provided alert dialogs on saving.

The replace functions replace the current control template with the one (if any) in the reloaded file. The add functions ignore any control template in the file.

To get your templates back, reload your files one at a time selecting the replace option. Do not use add at this stage.

Then click the above button, or if you want it to be a library template click the main > store as library template menu item. You should then see it in the storage box. Then save the file again.

Repeat for each of your files.

You should then be able to reload or add the files as required.

Generally you need a good reason to put only one template by itself in a .box file. It is usually better to put them all in one file. Store each one as you create it, and then save the file.

regards,

Martin.

Many thanks Martin. I had forgotten to store each template as a background template before saving the box file in each case - all is now understood.

Regards.

Bill.
