I thought this link might be interesting. http://www.swanagerailway.co.uk/dailysvce.htm The 5th picture down shows the interface between the Swanage heritage line and Network Rail. I think it is quite unusual to see two catch points back to back, although presumably used elsewhere in similar situations. I have not posted the photo as not sure what the copyright situation is. There's a pair of back to back catch points at the end of the ESR where it joins Network Rail, Until a few years ago there was still a pair in the ESR track at the old interface with BR on the Cranmore side of the crossing from the shed to Cranmore West platform. Cheers Phil |

Hi Arthur, Thanks for posting that.  It seems strange that they are back-to-back instead of toe-to-toe. It means the controls, ownership and maintenance overlap. Also in the event that one of them is used in anger, the other one gets wrecked. Am I missing something obvious?  Martin. |

Hi Martin The ones on the ESR were locked together and it required both tokens to unlock the frame. The BR/NR used to come by road from Westbury and was given to the driver at Whites Crossing the exit junction from Yeomans Quarry ours was walked down from Cranmore West when incoming specials were arriving.
