Hi Martin, Serious computer problems here have caused the loss of all my Templot files (my fault, I forgot to add them to Carbonite's list). I uploaded recently a bgs and box file that are quite important and complex that I am working on for a friend. Is there a way to download them back here again, he said very hopefully. Hi Raymond, Sorry to hear of your computer problems. If you uploaded files here then yes they are still here for you or anyone else to download. Hi Raymond, Martin has obviously referred you to the location of your recent uploaded files.  However, there is one thing you can do in desperation, to recover files from your computer, if your computer has a really serious problem and refuses to function.  That is to remove the HDD drive from the computer (or the one that has the data you need, if you have more than one HDD drive fitted), and install it as an extension drive in another computer, as all the original files should still be on the drive. (unless of course the drive is totally corrupted or damaged). Be advised, you should run a virus and malware check on the drive disc, before you start downloading any files from it. If the virus check runs clear, then you should be able to recover most if not all the files that were on the drive (do not download any program files, as they may be corrupted, only download data files). Thank you Brian, That would have been very useful a few days ago but in the meantime I have had to do a clean install so there is little chance they are still there, However, I will try that with the new computer when arrives. I think it worth the try anyway. Thanks again Raymond. |

Most Linux distributions can be run directly from the CD as a trial, without needing to be installed. You will be able to see all your Windows files on the hard drive (including perhaps to your surprise files which you thought were password protected) and copy them elsewhere, such as to a USB memory stick. Talking of which Templot can be installed and run on a USB memory stick, and will keep all its files on there. So if the computer fails there is a good chance that the USB memory stick is unaffected, and you can transfer it at any time to a different computer and continue working in Templot exactly where you left off. Simply select the USB drive when doing the Templot install after downloading. regards, Martin. |

Hello, Also using Linux there are a number of programs which can recover any files which have not been overwritten even if they have been deleted.Photorec springs to mind but there are others of varying complexity depending on what you wish to do. Regards. Trevor.  |
