I have added a new function to add a quick baseboard outline to the background shapes. This is simply a rectangle shape of course, but it can be added with a single click without going into the full background shapes dialog. Beginners have often asked for this -- it has been on my to-do list for years. You can add as many rectangles as you wish this way. This is just a small selection of typical baseboard sizes without going mad on the menu. After adding any background shape it can be adjusted for exact size or position using the action > mouse actions: shapes > mouse actions. 2_181416_290000000.png I have listed a selection of both mm and inch sizes to keep everyone happy. Note that selecting any of these does not change the grid units -- that's at trackpad > trackpad grid options >. In the next program update. regards, Martin. |

Now that is very neat and useful Martin. Little things like that will aid the beginners learning curve! | ||

Thanks Tom. Long menus like this are beginning to look very old-fashioned in many programs. But they are an order-of-magnitude faster to code than any other option, and rock-solid reliable in every version of Windows back to year dot. Templot is never going to win any prizes for cutting-edge graphics. regards, Martin. |

Hello,Templot is never going to win any prizes for cutting-edge graphics.I don't know about that Martin. It is small on the outside but inside it is amazing how much is there. I am unaware of any other software that manages to fit so much inside. It should win prizes for being so adaptable while being rock solid and reliable as well. You can't judge a book by the cover and that is certainly the case with Templot. You are very modest Martin but I am sure I am not the only person who thinks you are a genius. Regards. Trevor. |

What's more- I changed from my laptop to a desktop recently and what I noticed was that Templot downloaded and installed within seconds. Yet many pieces of software that have far less functions take much longer. Someone certainly knows about efficient programming. (I managed to program a computer to say "HELLO WORLD" once if that's any help! Martin, Is it possible to add a "Custom" selection to the list whereby length and width data could be entered? Jim. |

Jim Guthrie wrote: Is it possible to add a "Custom" selection to the list whereby length and width data could be entered?Hi Jim, Well it's possible, but the idea of the quick list is not to have to enter any data. Am I missing something? You can easily add whatever rectangle(s) you need in the background shapes and load them any time you need them via a BGS file, including adding them to the existing shapes. See main > background shapes menu item. If you save the BGS file with the name start.bgs it will be loaded automatically on start-up (likewise start.box for your track templates if you don't restore the previous session). See: topic 2556 regards, Martin. |

Hi Jim, On further reflection I have now added other size mm... and other size ft... options to the menu, where baseboard length and width can be entered without any other details being required, or access to the full background shapes dialog needed. Inch sizes should be entered as decimal fractions of a foot, e.g. 4ft-6in is entered as 4.5ft. regards, Martin. |

Here we go then. We shall have to call a halt here, or we will have the entire background shapes dialog duplicated in the menus. 2_192011_520000000.png Martin. |

dharma66 wrote: I'm going to love this featureI'm hoping to get the program update available this weekend. Bear in mind that this new feature doesn't add any new functionality, just a quicker way of accessing the existing background shapes for empty rectangles. See main > background shapes menu item. regards, Martin. |
