Hi Guys
I am moving along with my idea of building a 15 inch gauge railway in 7mm scale.
This will use 9mm gauge track at 1/43.5 scale
My 'prototype' uses 6.5" wide sleepers ( 36 " long on the straights ) and on the straight is spaced 27" between centres.
My first turnout will be a 1 in 6 based on one of the N gauge ones in Templot - obviously that timbering isn't at all suitable and it occurs to me that any arbitrary dimension I might set for sleeper spacing in the turnout might not work anyway.
So should I start with what sleepers are actually needed for support and then just fill in using those fixed sleepers as reference points ?
If that's the right way for me where do I need support anyway - I think what I am trying to ask is where MUST I put some sleepers ?
I am not sure what makes a difference but my model track will be using FB rail and will be copperclad construction

Hi

Start Templot and open the Gauge menu.
Select the "other gauges" option.
At the top left corner of the window that appears there are four custom buttons labelled a, b, c and d.
Click on whichever of these you want to use - they are usually undefined.

Simply enter the information for your own scale/gauge combination and away you go.
Don't worry about the turnout timbering - let Templot use its settings and then shove timbers if need be.
Save your first template as a future starting point for any designs in your own scale/gauge.

Creating your own scale/gauge combination is easier than you think.

Regards.

Bill Campbell.
