Is there a way to:
  1. Ensure that all Check Rail ends are bent
  2. Globally change all check rail ends from flared to bent or vice versa.
  3. Create a true copy of an existing turnout when using [New]
regards

Hi Godders,

Bent check rails are the default. If you have some templates where you have set real > rails > flared ends machined menu option:

a. change the control template to real > rails > flared ends bent if not already.

b. group all the templates

c. click real > rails > modify group to match menu item.

This way you can globally change all templates, or as many as you wish to group, to either setting.

If you have changed some individual check rail ends to machined using real > adjust check rails menu item, you have over-ridden the above setting for that check rail end on that template. The only way back is to delete the template to the control, click real > rails > flared ends bent if not already, and then go back to real > adjust check rails menu item and click the reset all button.

p.s. Sorry, there is a bug there -- you need to select any one of the rail ends to enable that button. I will fix it.

I'm sorry it is complicated, but there are two entirely different reasons for changing to machined check rail ends:

1. because it is the prototype design, for example in UK heavy-rail flat-bottom track. Use the real > rails > menu options for this.

or

2. because it is necessary to modify a check rail end to fit, in complex formations such as a tandem turnout. This can include on bullhead rail. Use the real > adjust check rails dialog for this.

3. Create a true copy of an existing turnout when using [New]
The NEW tool button is mainly for beginners needing quick access to the basic REA templates. Established users will seldom need to use it. The intention is to create a new mint template, i.e. one conforming to most of the defaults, not a copy of an existing template.

To obtain a copy of an existing background template:

a. click on it.

b. click copy to the control on its menu which appears on the left.

c. shift the control template somewhere else using the F7 mouse action, on the SHIFT tool button. You will then see the original template remaining below it. (Shift means shift position, i.e. move without rotation, not the SHIFT key on the keyboard.)

Make sure you have first stored the previous control template if it is needed.

regards,

Martin.

I have deleted it for you. :)

More puzzlingly, how did you create it? The Send button should vanish when you click it the first time. Does it?

Do you use double-clicking on your computer and do it without thinking? Computers are far, far more comfortable to use if you set them for single-clicking only.

Martin.

Thanks martin,

I pressed "send" then hesitated as nothing seem to happen and pressed "send" again. At this point I noticed that the tab had a "reload" active on the tab as it waited for the internet.

I think it is due to my broadband connection, via sky, and think it drops out not infrequently because the hub design apparently is not of the best design, to put it kindly.

My machine is set for single-clicking and to suggest I did it it without thinking is deeply hurtful. I shall have to console myself in the bottle.

hahahahah
