Does anyone know which of the PWI publications would be the most appropriate comparison to the title "BRT3" (1964) that Martin often refers to?
I have read vague references to BRT7 "Switches and crossings". There is a PWI book listed for "switches and crossings in flat bottom rail." Of course, like most others I am interested in bullhead.
These books aren't cheap so I wouldn't like to pick one at random.
I have found this one, but I am not sure if it is the most appropriate title:
http://books.google.co.uk/books?id=PjPWCQAAQBAJ&pg=PT347&lpg=PT347&dq=permanent+way+institution+brt3+google+book&source=bl&ots=lJmT9OT8ar&sig=jFXGXdrbfVVlQzqtpfdkM592UeY&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0CC4Q6AEwA2oVChMIqKTRmNH8yAIVw6YOCh0LFgct#v=onepage&q=permanent%20way%20institution%20brt3%20google%20book&f=false

I am conscious of bombarding people with questions, so if I can find the right books and learn for myself, then all the better.

Any recommendations appreciated.

Cheers, Derek

Hi Derek,

You want BRT1, BRT2, or BRT3 for bullhead. There is little bullhead in later editions.

There are 2 copies of BRT3 (1964) on Amazon at £35:

Googling around can probably find others. Prices tend to be all over the place.

regards,

Martin.

p.s. BRT2 (1956) and BRT1 (1943, 1947, 1950) here:

Thank you Martin.
I never thought to try those two sites, though I did check ebay.
Sorry for the further question, but I assume BRT3 (on the amazon link) is just an updated version of BRT1 and BRT2 and on that basis I would be best going for BRT3.
Again, my thanks for your reply.
Derek

Hi Derek,

BRT1 was a wartime production, so a bit limited. 340 pages.

BRT2 is expanded, but still mostly bullhead. 446 pages.

BRT3 is expanded further and contains a lot of the early flat-bottom designs. 507 pages.

BRT4 (1971) is expanded further, but very little bullhead. 608 pages.

Martin.

Thanks Martin.

BRT3 it is then.

(plus perhaps BRT1 for its historic interest)

Derek
