I'm new to Templot, but have managed to figure my way around it for the most part. But I'm having trouble putting in a crossing that doesn't want to align properly. Not sure what Ive done wrong as I followed the video for the other I've created (a double crossing) and that seems to have worked ok.

What I cannot seem to manage is to get two tracks running from the end of the crossing that remain parallel/equal distance from each other and putting in a crossing off of them off towards a wharf/dock.

Hi Kelly,

Welcome to Templot Club. :)

To have tracks running parallel/concentric, use the tools > make double-track or the tools > make crossover functions to create the second track from the first (having first set the required adjacent track centres).

n.b. In the centre of your plan you do not have a full 6ft way between the double tracks, which means there is insufficient passing clearance for vehicles. Use the tools > spacing-ring to check for track spacing, see:

For your wharf crossover,

1. delete from your plan the purple diamond-crossing and outer curve templates.

2. delete the inner curve and turnout to the control template.

3a. it is currently set to a curviform V-crossing. If that is what you want, click the tools > make ladder crossover > make curviform ladder menu item. This will be a shorter diamond-crossing than you have now. Extend it (F4 mouse action) to the required length(s) along the running line.

or

3b. if you prefer a diamond-crossing similar in length to what you have now, change the starting turnout to a regular V-crossing. Then click the tools > make ladder crossover > make regular ladder menu item.

Note -- you are making diamond-crossings across a transition curve, which is a bit ambitious for a Templot beginner. Ideally the new transition zones will need minor adjustments to create perfect concentricity in the 1st and 2nd radii. However the results above should be close enough for most purposes. I will make a bit of video shortly showing how to make the final adjustments.

For your double-junction on the right, have a look at the video -- help > watch a video > Scruff Video curviform double junction menu item. If it won't play on your system, it is also available (in much poorer image quality) at:

Thanks for your reply Martin.

I've increased the rail spacing since posting this and gotten them parallel. For now I've replaced the single crossing for a combination of separate points, which I've managed to line up after a bit of trial and error (if you don't mess things up you don't learn I find!). Ideally I need a single (maybe a double?) slip there instead.

I followed the video you mention in creating the double-junction.

What I'm trying to achieve can be seen in the rough drawing here:

and an updated .box file here:

I'll have a look at what you suggest and see what works. I can live with the longer arrangement of points if needed(easier to build mind than a crossover/slip).

I did try to get a single slip set up previously, but couldn't quite get it right, will go over the view/instructions again at some point and see if I can get it sussed.
