Hi everyone.
Sorry if this has being asked before. But.

I have had templot (2.13a) for awhile now and are getting to grips with it to create basic track plans. But one think I seemingly can't figure out is how to draw the templates with flat bottom rail instead of bullhead.
When I go into real and go to rails and select "head and foot (flat-bottom rail)" the programme info box appears and there is some information about this function being a " provisional implementation". So am I right in thinking at this point in templots development this can't be done with templot at the moment.
I am guessing someone has some answers. Or a way round it
Thanks. Adam.

Hi Adam,

Welcome to Templot Club. :)

The flat-bottom function does work, but not on the screen. You see the results only on the printed templates, and only for background templates (not the control template). That's why it is called "provisional". In practice this isn't too much of a restriction, the presence of the rail foot lines on the screen would seriously add to the screen clutter while doing track design.

If you have a trackplan design, click the real > rails > head and foot menu option.

Then click the real > rails > modify group to match menu item. Then if you haven't grouped the required templates, select the group all option.

You won't see any changes on the screen, but when printed the rails will have the flat-bottom foot lines (and when displayed on the sketchboard in detail mode, see below).

Bear in mind that to be prototypically correct you need to select from the flat-bottom switches, and if heavy rail rather than narrow-gauge etc., you need to change to machined check rail flares (as above).

regards,

Martin.

Thanks for a speedy reply. I shall try this tomorrow. Looks like I don't have an excuse for a couple of flat bottom turnouts now.

Cheers. Adam.
