The House of Commons Library is asking for people to suggest more recognisable names for their local area. You might like to help: http://visual.parliament.uk/msoanames (England & Wales only) Martin. |

More recognisable than names that have been around for 100s or even 1,000s of years? How about them putting their 'talent' to better use, such as finding a new shape for the humble wheel? (sorry if I'm becoming more like Victor Meldrew each day) |

Locally here they had names on there which local folk wouldn't recognise. I was happy to suggest more familiar names. They could have started from the council ward names, but here those names also wouldn't be recognised by most folk, since the last Boundary Commission review. You might like to refer to page 27, para 169 on, here: http://www.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/docs/ebooks/historical-instructions-to-field-examiners.pdf cheers, Martin. |
