A bit of help required please with sharing a .bgs file.  I'm helping a mate by composing a Templot file for him which is positioned over a picture he's designed.  You can see a screen shot of it attached.

I've emailed him both the .box file and the .bgs file so he can review it.  However when he drags and drops the .bgs shape file onto the Templot screen (on his PC) all he gets is a blank white square and in the Shapes dialogue box it shows as [empty picture].

Grateful for any ideas why he can't view the correct shape file.

Cheers … Alan

I thought it might be useful to attach the two files I've sent him.  Here's the .box file...

I've managed to produce the same effect on my own PC - screen shot attached.  Clearly the .bgs file is just an empty picture or place holder.  Hmmm...   more work to do here methinks.  I'll keep working on it until I understand it.

Hi Alan. You also need to attach the .sk81 file, which contains the actual image.

Hi Alan,

As Paul explained, you need also to send the SK8... file(s) in addition to the BGS file. You will find them in the same folder as the BGS file, with the same name. They need to be saved in the same folder as the BGS file when received.

The BGS file contains only the picture shape container, a rectangle of specified size and position.

The SK8... file contains the actual image which is stretched to fit in the container.

If there is more than one picture shape in the BGS file, there will be a separate SK8... file for each one, numbered SK81, SK82, SK83, etc. You need to send all of them.

I'm sorry this system is a bit clunky, it is a legacy from the early days of Templot. I can't easily change it without breaking a lot of existing BGS files.

cheers,

Martin.

Hi Martin,

Many thanks for the explanation. After a bit of thinking (hard work for my little brain cell these days) I twigged on and sent the other.sk81 etc files to him this morning. Hopefully he'll reply positively.

Clunky or not, it's great to have Templot.

Cheers... Alan
