Hello Martin.

I have just created a background shape using a drawing extracted from a PDF file.

I then saved the background shapes as I normally would and shut down Templot and attempted to start from square one.

On trying to reload my background shape "Calshot Spit" , it was not shown in the file browser window.

On selecting recent files, Calshot Spit is shown and reloads correctly.

On investigation the file was saved in the shapes folder.

Why does it not appear in the reload background shapes window?

Regards
Tony.

Hi Tony,

1. try scrolling to the right:

I think you may find the BGS3 files. There is obviously something there, or you wouldn't be seeing the scrollbar.

Or if still no joy:

2. click the style drop-down icon and select Details. Click the Date column header once or twice to see the most recent file at the top.

p.s. it's all working fine here on my Windows7 and Windows10 systems. I didn't know anyone is still using XP, there is obviously a difference in the Windows file dialog on XP. I can't test it here because my XP system is currently in bits. :)

cheers,

Martin.

Hi Martin.
Already tried scrolling to the right but all there was, was blank space. Will try option 2 and report back.

Tony.

Hi Martin.
XP must be different as when I select details no further options appear. Just the same list of file names.
However, I have discovered that if I change the file type in the file window from .bgs to .bgs3 the missing files do appear.
Since I am doing this for a friend who is newish to Templot, I am going to need to explain to him how to load the files when I email them to him. So need to understand what is going on. His system is at least windows 7, so he may not have that problem.
Thanks for your help
Regards
Tony.

Hi Tony,

That's odd, the scrollbar is there for a reason. Try resizing the dialog much larger (drag the grip, bottom right corner).

Anyone else using XP and seeing this?

cheers,

Martin.

Hi Tony,

OK, that's a bug. Many thanks for finding it. It has no effect in Windows7 or Windows10, but obviously does have in XP.

Now fixed -- the file name field will be empty in the next program update.

If your friend is not too computer-savvy, tell him that the BGS3 file can be dragged and dropped onto the trackpad if he prefers to work that way.

cheers,

Martin.

Hi Martin.
I am not entirely convinced that an empty file name field will cure it. If I clear the field manually and press enter it makes no difference. Only the .bgs files show.

I have also found the dates column you referred to by enlarging the window and clicked on it several times. No difference I'm afraid.
The drag and drop function works fine and I can still find the files by adding the 3.
Maybe its fundamentally a windows function, which not much can be done about.
I shouldn't worry about it overly much. At least I am now aware of the problem and the work around using obsolete software.
Regards
Tony.
