Hi Stuart Yes, but you will have to use WINE, have a look through the archives, more info there. hth Tom |

I've had Templot running under Wine before, but not with the latest Pug release. I've just done as described in the instructions (I just ran the templot exe before) , and it gets as far as painting the purple banner on the into window before dying horribly with an exception. Has anyone got the latest pug running under Ubuntu Fiesty (7.04)? Cheers Richard |

BeamEnds wrote:Has anyone got the latest pug running under Ubuntu Fiesty (7.04)? Yes I've been using the latest PUG sucessfully under Ubuntu, although I'm currenty using 7.10 Gutsy Gibbon. I'll get round to updating my notes one day but I haven't had any problems with the windows causing an error. On start up some of the windows don't always pop up to the front but it's easy to switch to the right one. Do you have any of the fancy eye candy turned on? i.e. Beryl or Compiz? If so have you tried reducing the settings to the minimum? For Stuart I have also managed to get the video tutorials running under Linux as well. topic 138 HTH Adrian |

I'm very interested in this thread. I also run Gutsy Gibbon and Wine but have been unable to get the video tutorials running, even after installing the suggested additional programmes. However I have just checked and find I am running Wine 0.9.46 so an update could solve this problem. I would like to run Templot itself under Ubuntu, but my computer has two separate hard drives, one used for Windows XP and the other, my main drive, Ubuntu. Unfortunately Templot is hard-drive specific (for totally understandable reasons) and my licence is for the H/D running XP! Just as an aside, I am very new to Templot, using it for 2mm scale, and find all threads and particularly Martin's input very helpful in finding my way around it. Many thanks to all contributors. As mentioned previously I have managed to get the video tutorials running under Linux using Linux based software. This was covered in this thread. topic 138 No Wine in sight using this method. Hope this helps Adrian |

I just noticed (yes, I know, a bit slow!) that you address the windows "drive" as C:, but I have to use media/hda2/etc.... to run from it - I wonder if my Wine install has worked out differently some how? It sounds like the install is slightly different. Have you run the winecfg utility (wine config)? On my setup the Wine installation created a hidden directory .wine under my user account, i.e. /home/adrian/.wine in this directory I then have a dosdevices directory with a directory called c:. So the full path name is /home/adrian/.wine/dosdevices/c: . Now if I run winecfg and click on the drives tab it maps drive c: to ../drive_c and which is just a *nix link to /home/adrian/.wine/drive_c . So addressing the windows "drive" just follows the mapping to this directory. If you run winecfg I don't see why you can't map the c: drive to your directory /media/hda1 . Is this a plug in drive of some description? The /media directory is usually used by removeable media, CD/DVD, USB pens or memory card readers. Regards Adrian |
