I,ve tried for a few programs before like anyrail & xtrackcad to design a layout & it just seems to be a bit beyond me when it comes to getting perfect curves to do a double track mainline. I was  wondered if their were any tutorials on the forum to show me how i do this??

Cheers

Simon.

Hi Simon,

There are two videos showing different ways to create ovals in Templot.

Go to the video page at:  http://www.templot.com/martweb/video_list.htm

Read the notes and then scroll down and click on the simple oval - method 1 and simple oval - method 2 links to watch the videos.

Making them double track is easy. Just work your way round deleting to control/current, and clicking the tools > make double-track menu items for each template.

Templot is completely different from Anyrail and XTrkCad, so if you found those difficult you might find Templot a lot easier. Please consider though that an oval isn't a very railway-like formation, it's not the best way to start a proper track plan, and it's not really what Templot is for. I made these videos only because folks frequently asked for them. :)

The best way to begin is to lay out a small through station, possibly on a gentle curve, and then extend the tracks round the ends to whatever you want on the other side. Another station perhaps, or a fiddle yard, or an industrial complex.

regards,

Martin.
