I tried to use the chat room today. I registered and was sent a password which I then used to log on. The password was rejected using both secure and normal connections. :?

Cookies are enabled. What have I missed?

Hi Peter,

??? :?

For the Templot chat room you don't need to register and you won't be sent anything and you don't need to log on. :? Just visit the room, enter any user name for yourself, and the room password which is the same for everyone. Details of how to discover the password and visit the Templot chat room are at:

 http://www.templot.com/martweb/templot_chat.htm

However, I'm not sure it is worth bothering, because since I set up the Templot chat room it has hardly ever been used. I can't remember anyone ever posting a message here to say that they are in the chat room or inviting others to join them there.

If you registered on a web site and you were sent something, I don't know what site it was, but it wasn't the Templot chat room. In the Templot chat room you should see "Templot online chat" on the left (and in the browser title bar), like this:

 chat_room.pngchat_room.png

After entering the room you should see something like this:

  chat_room1.pngchat_room1.png

Maybe you clicked "Create Room" and you have set up your own chat room on the Chatzy system? Or maybe it was some other web site entirely?

regards,

Martin.

Hi Martin,

I got as far as your first screen with Chatzy. I entered my name...and my Templot password. It was rejected. I entered my name and a blank password. It was rejected. So then I registered and Chatzy sent me a password which was also rejected.

The reason I logged on was that you were shown as being on-line and I thought it would be nice to say hello and thank you for Templot.

Ah well..hello and thank you for Templot anyway :D

Best Regards

Peter

Hi Peter,

The password for the Templot chat room is not the same as your Templot Club password. It's the same password for everyone. It's all explained at:

  http://www.templot.com/martweb/templot_chat.htm

which is why the link from this Templot Club goes to that page and not directly to the chat room. I have now sent you the chat room password by email.

The reason I logged on was that you were shown as being on-line and I thought it would be nice to say hello and thank you for Templot.
Where did you see that I was on-line? Until you posted your message I hadn't visited the chat room for several days. And until a user has entered the room they can't see who is there anyway? :?

I try my utmost to explain everything as carefully as I can, but sometimes it just seems an impossible task. :(

But many thanks for your kind words anyway. :) It's easy to contact me by email or by sending me a private message on Templot Club. Just click my name to the left of this message or any of my messages.

regards,

Martin.

Hi Martin,

I saw you were on-line on the forum and just wondered whether you would be in the chat room also.

I'm afraid I just clicked the link without stopping to read the rest of the window which of course explains everything. Click happy - a bad habit. Sorry about that.

Have now successfully entered the chat room.  Many thanks for your help as always.

Best Regards

Peter

Hi Peter,

It is not possible to see who is currently online on these Templot Club forums. I disabled that feature because it seemed to me to be an invasion of privacy. Obviously if someone has posted a message within the last few minutes, it is likely that they are still online.

The list at the bottom of the front pages shows who has visited the forum at least once during the course of the day, i.e. since midnight. It doesn't mean that they are still online now.

regards,

Martin.
