HI..

I have my plan and I'm shoving the timbers but I need to change side to shove the other way. Can this be done? if so how.

Hi Stuart,

If you mean you want to lengthen or shorten a timber at the main-side (MS) end of the timber (i.e. the end where the timber number is shown), hold down the SHIFT key while clicking the lengthen or shorten buttons (or pressing the L or S keys).

For the mouse actions, set the required timber length first, and then use the throw mouse action to move the timber endways to the required position.

regards,

Martin.

Martin - so that I/we can find this thread in the future using the search facility, can the word 'Stoving' in the thread title be corrected - unless 'stoving' is a feature I have yet to discover in Templot! Cheers. Dave

Hi Stuart,

er, yes, that's what I explained. Give it a try! :)

If you mean you want the numbers to appear on the opposite side of the template, you can do that only for plain track templates, not turnout templates. Click the template > invert handing menu item, or press CTRL+X.

regards,

Martin.

Hi Dave,

Have done. But "stoving" sounds useful. For some reason many function names within Templot begin with the letter S -- store save shove swing snake slide swell shift scale shapes -- so why not "stove"? Suggestions for a stoving function welcome! :)

Well, stove (or stash) could be be to store something away in a more hidden or secure place than store does. Suppose there's a box file used just for storing useful templates away for some possible future used (general.box, library.box, chest.box???). Stove could store a template there rather than the currently open box file.

I suspect that this isn't quite as simple as it sounds. Or is effectively there already?

Hi Nigel,

It wouldn't be too difficult to instantly save the current/control template as a one-template box file in a specified "stoving folder" on your system. And we could have a function to load all the box files from that folder (or any specified folder) into the Storage Box in one go.

But is there a real need? At present you can store library templates in your box files. And you can select any template in the Storage Box as the only member of a group, then do "save group" to save it in its own file, then perhaps delete it from the current box. Or do that to a small group of templates in a single file.

A further layer of functionality might be just too much for some users!

regards,

Martin.
