Herewith pic of current project which using half a zillion partial templates, all on transition curves and the result looks a bit messy!!Hi Howard, Well, you are certainly not shy of using transitions! That's going to be an impressive piece of pointwork. First of all, the transition markers which are out in fresh air can be removed and/or tidied up using the geometry > transition curve > normalize transition function (first delete to the current/control template). Read the help notes first, because it is not undo-able and may affect subsequent adjustments. To remove the transition markers entirely from the pad, the printed output, DXF exports, and everywhere else, untick the generator > generator settings > radial end marks menu option, and then click the generator > rebuild all background menu item. Then if you wish to restore the transition markers to the current/control template (and subsequently stored background templates), so that you can continue working with transition curves, tick the radial end marks option again. Alternatively, you can remove the transition markers from only the background templates on the pad, without affecting them elsewhere, by going to pad > pad background options > pad background templates detail... menu item, and then unticking the marks option box. As an alternative to all that, instead of removing the transition markers you can change them to a less obtrusive colour -- pad > pad background options > pad background templates colours > background marks colour... menu item. And finally a trick -- to remove the transition markers from the printed templates only, set the print > printed drawing options > radial end marks colour... to white. You can use this trick to remove other features from the print. regards, Martin. |

Martin, Many thanks for a very compreshensive response - i will need a while to digest that! there are actually only about 8 transitions in the layout, but each time I "tweak" a partial template built from a template on a transition the marks duplicate - but I know I know what to do about it! It seems to me that transitions are the most powerfull aspect of Templot, and having points curving both ways at once looks rather nice! Just a quick wish list for a future up-version.... on the "do > omit rails..." dialogue, could "omit all" and "track centre lines" also appear? Many thanks again, Howard PS it might look impressive if it gets built! |

To omit all rails, click the real > rails > no rails menu option. The logic of having "no rails" on the "real" menu is a bit suspect, since no prototype turnout is entirely without rails. But as you can see, there is a work-in-progress in that area. Thanks for the suggestion to move it to the "omit" dialog -- it could easily be confusing at present because it totally overrides any settings you make on that dialog. Whether the "omit" dialog should have been on the "real" menu is another thorny issue. Track centre-lines aren't part of the prototype, so that item is correct where it is. having points curving both ways at once looks rather nice! And is not necessarily unprototypical. See: http://www.templot.com/martweb/info_files/gimp_track.htm regards, Martin. |
