Dear all, It seems members with internet connections via Pipex / Tiscali / Nildram are having problems accessing Templot Club since about 9pm last night. That inludes me  -- I'm currently connected here via a painfully slow dial-up connection on a different ISP.I will report again as soon as I have any news. In the meantime affected members can access Templot Club via the Yahoo group at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/templot regards, Martin. |

I couldn't log in until I (re) adjusted some settings because IE was blocking cookies coming from here. Everything worked OK yesterday but not today until I made the adjustment, has something about the forum changed? Martin 2.1 |

Maybe getting a "site not found" error caused IE to change the cookie settings in some way. Which ISP are you with for internet connectivity? One thing which will give you cookie problems is inserting www into the address, or using a different domain. Hi Martin Comcast.net is the US broadband service provider I use, I happen to use Internet Explorer 7 because I'm just too lazy to move my bookmarks and odds and ends over to another browser. That's how I get to this site, from a bookmark every time. Yesterday I got here via the bookmark and logged in, no problem. Today (Tuesday 10th) I came here via the bookmark again and logged in but the site wouldn't take my login. I tried several times closing the browser every time and even rebooted completely once, before I got it through my thick skull that the website was trying to feed me a cookie that Internet Explorer wasn't prepared to accept. The fix was simple once I understood what was happening. Since I hadn't changed my security settings in IE or updated anything since yesterday, I assumed something about the website or the cookie had changed. I posted this in case anyone has had similar issues. All fixed now, no problems Martin 2.1 |

Mine is all OK now but my daughter is a web designer and was checking because she was having trouble accessing a Pipex site to update it. She found that Pipex was being blacklisted because of an excess of nasties they were transmitting. Pipex was not on that list last night. She is on a separate line connected through BTinternet. This seems to happen periodically - AOL were blacklisting Pipex just before Christmas. |

Interesting... I started using Firefox because I was tired of Internet Explorer doing some odd things occasionally. I keep IE around because there are just a few things it does a little better. This morning I could not sign into this site using Firefox, so I tried IE and had no problem signing in. Since I'm not used to Firefox there are probably some settings I've missed  Martin 2.1 |

What did Firefox say when you tried to log in? Why are you logging in anyway? I never do -- the cookie is valid for 5 years and when I visit this site (in Firefox) I am already logged in. I assume it is working that way for everyone else? The only reason to log out when leaving is if the computer is used by others who you don't trust -- for example in an internet cafe. regards, Martin. |

Quick Update. I've adjusted the cookie settings in Firefox and can now sign in using Firefox; of course I don't know if it was the adjustments I made or if something about the site was fixed in the interim that allowed this. Martin 2.1 |

The problem today was simply a lack of connection to the server. That's twice now. So whoever it is who keeps tripping over the wire -- pick your feet up! Martin. |

My personal experience leads me to ensure that all cookies and sign ins get dumped every time I close a browser. No hacker, no matter how talented can get information from a hard copy notebook, and it takes only seconds to sign in each time. Hi Martin, Sorry if you read my message as critical, it wasn't intended that way. I was just frustrated that I didn't have any information to help you. Had you in fact said 'I would simply be taken back to the page I was on with "not logged in" shown' I could have told you straight away that Firefox was set not to accept cookies from 85a.co.uk Please do continue to post about any problems, you are not making me unhappy! So I have the browser set to accept all cookies but delete them at the end of a session. The browser remembers my password. John |
