The access problems to Templot Club via some ISPs mean that this site has been inaccessible to many members for over 24 hours now. Sorry about that -- it's affecting me too. I'm going to wait another 24 hours, and then have a rethink -- it looks like the move to Data 1 hosting has been a disaster. More downtime in the last 6 weeks than in several years previously. We can't just switch back until I have solved the database backup problems which prompted the move in the first place. Apologies again, Martin. |

Update -- Monday morning. The cause of the DNS failure still hasn't been found, but as a temporary measure to circumvent the problem, Jim has given us a new IP address. If you were previously having trouble accessing Templot Club, you should now be able to gain access using this address: http://69.36.13.142/forum You will need to login again. Please don't bookmark this, it is a temporary kludge and will be changing again shortly. A few of the links on Templot Club pages may not work, but most of them should do. If previously you were not having trouble, you may now find that you get "404 Not Found" errors until the new DNS has propagated round the world. That may take a few hours -- in the meantime the above alternative address should work. In the next few days Jim will be moving us to a different data centre in Ohio with a better connection to the UK. When that happens the IP will change again. As a test, please everyone try this link. It's an Irish web site about motorcycles. There is no relevance to Templot, it is simply a typical site hosted by Data 1 at the new data centre: http://goldwingfacts.com/forums If you have any trouble accessing that site, please let me know. If it works ok, thanks for testing it, you don't need to do anything. Apologies again for all this messing about, it wasn't what I had in mind when we moved Templot Club to Data 1 hosting. Hopefully it will all settle down once we have got over this upset. regards, Martin. |

It never rains... It seems that emails containing links to raw IP numbers are treated as spam, so the Templot Club notification emails will be found in your spam bin for any messages posted using the temporary site link. Martin. |

----- from Peter Chappell ----- Hi Peter, Many thanks for that. I notice you are on AOL, which tends to be a bit iffy with links. It seems you found the site but not the file. Could you try these three instead: http://goldwingfacts.com/ http://goldwingfacts.com/forums/ http://goldwingfacts.com/forums/index.php Thanks, Martin. |

I'd just like to let you know that, I've not had any problems whatsoever during any of these events, albeit I'm not on Templot club 24hr but I'm on the computer atleast a good 4-6hrs a day. I'm currently with sky broadband. I tend to access through the notification emails, not often typing the web address into the address bar on IE. Hope you manage to gets things sorted. Kind regards |

I know about problems at Pipex, Nildram, Tiscali, PlusNet, some BT accounts, and some ISPs in Australia. I'm on Nildram for broadband, so I'm affected too. Using Easydial on NDO/Namesco for slow dial-up I've had no problems at all, so guess where I'm thinking of moving my Broadband. regards, Martin. |

We are all back on normally, thank goodness. Exactly on time as I expected -- someone came in Monday morning (it's 7:30am EST) and pressed the required button to restart something. I don't know whether to laugh or cry -- how can you have confidence in a system where the DNS server is left unattended over a weekend? regards, Martin. |

No problems logging in from here, obviously I couldn't use my bookmark so I clicked on the link in the Yahoo email copy of one of the posts. Firefox did give me a warning that the page might not be secure and popped up a box inviting me to cancel following the link, after that it was no problem logging in. Regards, Martin 2.1 |
