I am after some help with a 3-Way Tandem Turnout in 00 finescale, these are to replace PECO code 75 Three Way Turnouts. I have a set of C&L templates for a B8 LH / B6 RH Tandem Turnout, which I had intended to use until I got Templot.

I have spent the last two days trying to make a B8 LH / B6 RH Turnout with no result, I get to set the curving as in your video, but what is shown in the video is not what is shown on my screen (I have plug 91c). Looking at the turnout info I have used External Geometrical Radius which I have set at -1772.77 but this is coming out wrong. Could you please advise me where I am going wrong.

As these new turnouts are to replace PECO ones I am restricted to space, the ones from C&L just fit. If the Templot ones are longer than 345mm they will be to big and I will have to use the C&L ones.

I have had Templot now for a couple months, which has been fun in the learning curve.

I hope you can help or advise me.

Regards

Peter Price

Hi,
I've nearly finished a boxfile which should help but I've had to break off until tomorrow - 345mm should be OK

Hi,
The attached boxfile (0.91c) should help. It might need a bit of amendment but should provide a basis to build from. Please bear in mind that if you want the geometry to match Peco, then something else is needed but then that goes for the C&L ones too.

There are some sample boxfiles lurking here around for Peco which Martin has done, which would provide a basis to start from if that is necessary.

Hi Peter,

If you make the right-hand turnout an A-6 rather than a B-6, and increase the crossing entry-straight a little, you can get the tandem within your 345mm limit. Minimum radius is 814mm (32"). The right-hand check rail on the middle V-crossing will need some careful positioning.

Here's a quick screenshot (00-BF):

There is more about using the C&L templates at:

http://www.rmweb.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?p=782009#p782009

and at:

message 2130

You could create a tandem using the B-8 and B-6 templates from the C&L file if you prefer the smaller timbering.

Sorry I don't have time today to write a proper reply. Apologies.

regards,

Martin.
