Hi All,

Haven't used Templot to much, especially for 3-way points. I have made a ruff sketch of a three way I am trying to make could someone give me a guide how to do it or if someone is willing to do it for me, that would be fantastic.

Attached is a sketch of it,

What track standards/Scale/etc?

And Martin's video, http://www.templot.com/martweb/videos/3_way_tandem.exe, is probably where we all start out with a 3-way/tandem.

Had a try last night, watching the video but failed miserably:(

is this what you had in mind? the 3rd crossing nose needs to be put in but I usualy do this by drawing rather than faffing about with partial templates.

As I dont work with radi in point work I've used the nearest 0.5 crossing.

Thanks Alan,

I loaded it up and took a look at it, but to my understanding (may be my mathematics is wrong but on my drawing the outside radius should be 42 but on your plan it was 119" the middle radius was 48" and the bottom one is right :thumb:

Say it might be my mathematics or understanding, but if someone could let me know that would be great.

Hi Josh

There's a couple of issues here.  The first is that prototype track doesn't have a radius as such - a turnout will be expressed in terms of the crossing angle and switch type.

Not withstanding that, I've attached an image showing the three radii you're after overlaid on top of each other.  The second issue - you can see that the crossings between the 42" & 36" (approx 1:14), and the 36" and 30" (approx 1:12) are very shallow.  I really don't think this will work in any OO standard, and there's no way I would attempt it even in P4 with its smaller crossing gaps.  I did actually create a box file for this with turnouts instead of plain track, but I reckon it'll be unbuildable so haven't posted it.

Actually, another issue is which "OO Finescale" standard you're using? :)  Templot seems to have several...

Perhaps if you could give a bit more background into exactly what it is you're trying to do we might be able to offer some more constructive help.

I have took it up to my friend who asked me to design it for him and left him the picture with all the radius curves on top of each other, and the information I have quoted above, I will let you know in due course!
