Full size it is absolutely brilliant. Hi Andy, You can get reasonable results by switching the rails off for printing, and setting a thick track centre-line. Say 30mm wide for 4mm scale. Then print the pad to fit a single page. The red trim margins can be suppressed by simply changing their colour to white. The track centre-line prints in the same colour as the rail edges, so you can change that to whatever you want. I have made a bit of Jing video showing these changes being made (it may take a short while to load): ...

If you are tight for space there, it might be possible to shorten the lead on the turnout by increasing the entry straight on the crossing. regards, Martin. posted: 23 Jun 2009 15:19 from: Andy G Hi Martin, Thanks for the suggestion. I've had a good look at it and tried a few things. In trying to avoid a very short section of plain track between the crossing and the junction I'm not able to get a smooth line from the crossing to the tandem. This is actually the way I had originally done it with a regular slip but Dick commented that there was a dog leg in it and that the straight path would actually give a better alignment which it did seem to. The second reason is because I have had problems finishing a layout for years now so the possibility of using flex versus hand laid may help in that respect. However, if the costs blow out due to the flex I will bit the bullet and just do handlaid- takes consideribly longer but is more cost effective. I happen to have enough rail to do the whole layout right now, just need a few thousand more ties and spikes. Of course no one else can help in the thought process of handlaid vs flex other then me so it comes down to dollars vs time. The two lower tracks in the box file are running lines, so are at 6' spacing, while the top line is a siding so is at 10' from the running line. So OO-SF was logical but track building gauges have been unavailable for some time until very recently. I got mine yesterday. I'm still not sure what to do in general PCB or plastic construction. Plastic means understanding the chairing better and learning additional technique. PCB is easy to make and can be made with very few sleepers. So for fiddle yards etc this will be quick, cheap and deliver reliable running. It allows me to get started building soon and not be concerned about chairing as an issue. I can also do complete sleepering on some and see if cosmetic chairing is viable. Sweating the joints leaves very little solder on the sleeper so it *may* be possible. ... as possible for clarity, but this does give the problem of file sizes being larger and taking up a lot of space Hi Brian, This is a common misunderstanding. Provided you use a suitable video codec -- e.g. TSCC -- the file size in MB depends on the amount of detail in the image, not the size of the image in pixels. Likewise with GIF and PNG format for static images. An image of a patch of single colour 10,000 x 6,000 pixels would occupy only a few bytes in a file. The way to keep file sizes small is to remove everything from the screen which is not needed in the video. Closing the info and zoom dialogs, and working without timbering, will make a much smaller video file size -- provided you go nowhere near JPG and MPG formats, which should never be used for program screenshots and look awful when so used. I keep saying this, but the vast majority of Templot screenshots posted on forums such as RMweb are still in JPG format and look ...
