This is causing me some issues, namely with alignment to the plan, now the plan is a really poor copy from an a4 sheet of paper scanned in, I do have 40ft plans but again these were only copies of copies, so I cannot vouch for the accuracy of them in the firstplace. 3. (so long as B to Bs are monitored). But what is the cost in usable radii? Given that I have a penchant for 8- and 10-coupled heavy freight locos, what would be a sensible minimum – 36", 30", or something much more P4-like? Should I stick to 00-BF where presumably I could go down to 30" comfortably. 3. What method of track construction to employ? I'm not asking what is best (ply and rivet, pcb, or ply and chair. Any others....?) but essentially which is quickest? I suspect ply and rivet is slower than the others, and clearly chair and ply looks better than pcb, but is there a time and financial penalty? 4. But I do have a BH version #8 which is not advertised that I'm happy to send samples of over. Despite the etched component aspect, I continually get complimented over here on how much better the assembled laminations represent a normal rail cross-section than do cast versions of frogs. Unfortunately, it's very difficult to get my camera to focus down to such a small area and show it on the web site. Interestingly, the new HO standard flangeway versions will have the vee as a separate item, in order to get sufficient flangeway depth. So they could likely be assembled in the way you suggest. For the example shown I reduced each end by 39", and to help maintain checking I reduced the flare length to only 27". Here is the result: slip_mods.png You can see that there is still a slight conflict, but easily dealt with during construction with a few strokes of the file. These compromises are the price to be paid for not using P4. It's much worse in 00-BF or 00/H0 of course. You could try moving the slip switches a little closer to the V-crossings, but bear in mind that the points (switch tips) must be supported on a timber, must have room to open between the wing rail fronts, and the V-crossing check rails must be long enough in front of the crossing to check it properly. Putting a 20-metre radius in a terminal platform when there is no obvious reason why it couldn't have been built straight can look a bit daft. If you are working over a background scan, it really depends on the scale. If it is a 25" OS map, or a pencil sketch on a piece of A4 which you scanned in as a rough guide, you do need to lay out the overall curves and mark key locations first. Otherwise it's difficult to know which size of turnout is the most likely to fit where. On the other hand, for a detailed 40ft rating plan showing the position of the switch toes and crossings, brick-by-brick is the only feasible approach. Having exactly matched one turnout you can move on to the next. Whichever approach you adopt, avoid closing in on the detail too early ...

... one, you get the lower-most one. Changing the colour of that one doesn't show, because the others are on top of it. The answer is to delete the unwanted duplicates. Or ideally not to create them in the first place. The most likely reason you are doing that is by doing a store& background before using one of the tools> make functions. Those functions store the control template for you, so you don't need to. After changing a marker colour via the Windows Colour dialog, returning focus to the pad causes the control template to be shown again if it was hidden. I will see if that can be changed, but it's easy to hide it again if it's in the way. Or move it, of course.
