... topic: 2350 Hide timber numbering on templates? posted: 22 Nov 2013 13:12 from: philchudley Hi All Apologies if this is basic question or the answer is already on the forum which I have searched for an answer When printing templates full size, I find the switch labels really useful, however, for my narrow gauge templates particularly, the output of the timber numbering is rather distracting. Not too bad for straight track, but for turnouts, I get a load of labels like TR321.J2 TR321.J1 etc These overprint onto adjacent track templates rather confusing the issue. Is there are way to turn off the printing of timber numbering? I am sure that there is, but I just cannot find it. Any help will be most appreciated Cheers Phil posted: 22 Nov 2013 14:16 from: Dave Summers Hi Phil I think the answer may be output> output drawing options> timber numbering> omit all timber numbering Let us know if that still doesn't work! posted: 22 Nov 2013 15:44 from: philchudley Dave Summers wrote: ...

Here is part of the printed template output -- a fully chaired curved B8 crossover in P4: s4_soc_b8_curved_crossover_print_1 .png Don't forget to tick the option to include picture shapes in the print output (it is off by default). There are functions on the background shapes dialog to let you twist the picture shapes into alignment with the adjacent tracks, via the notch. If you load these C&L templates into Templot as picture shapes, you can then use the printer calibration function in Templot to ensure a precision print. Also I find I sometimes need to redo the positioning of track-work, particularly in very tight areas due to not being able to initially zoom in to place the items absolutely in the correct positions, thus resulting in infringements on clearances, particularly adjacent track. Also of course it slows things down quite a lot, but then I'm not galloping off to meet any particular deadlines! With a particular project I am working on, which includes a double slip, point rodding is required to run to all the points. In one group, containing five rods, It would be good to be able to increase the track spacing to accommodate this width along this length. Hi Tim, The geometry> adjacent track centres... setting can be changed for each individual template. But you need to change it while it is the control (current) template and before creating double track or a crossover from it. Obviously you can't change the spacing between the tracks without some transitional arrangements. For this purpose you can use the slewing function on the adjoining template(s). You need to set the slew amount to match the difference in the track spacings. Here is a screenshot showing that, with the slewing zone ( ...

The special crossing chairs must fit the rails in the specified positions, and must have a timber under them. This generally limits you for the amount by which the timbers under a V-crossing can be moved forward or back. These will generally be the Y- X- A- B- C timbers*. But you can skew them a bit more or less, and shorten them or lengthen them under an adjacent track, so that a timber comes under the correct crossing chair positions for several V-crossings. Placing short timbers end-to-end, or long timbers side-by-side makes it much more difficult for them to be packed and tamped.
