I am very new to Templot and have just boldly tried to load a .bmp image of a prototype 1:480 survey as a background. I am unsure of the dpi resolution of the scan, so I have been entering different resolutions in the hope I can match the track gauge of the template with the background. At 550dpi the image is too small but as I reduce the dpi successively, it fails to produce a background image below 500dpi. Obviously, I'm doing something fundamentally wrong, but I'm going Control, Background shapes, naming the file and choosing picture, enter dimensions, scanned map or prototype track plan, x=0 y=0 width scanned dpi 500, height 500, scale 1:480, Load image from my C:/ drive - and nothing happens! At 550 dpi and above it produces an image (but at the wrong size). Please can somebody point me in the right direction. Bob |

Hi Bob, Welcome to Templot Club. Which version of Windows are you using? Which version of Templot (see help > about Templot menu item)? How big is the image (number of pixels wide x pixels high)? regards, Martin. |

Bob Juleff wrote: I'm on windows 7 and running Templot v:0.74.bHi Bob, I think it is probably a large image and you are hitting the 16-bit graphics limit in 074b Please upgrade to version 091c -- lots more features and much easier to use. If you are working over a background guide you will very likely need the swell mouse action anyway. 091c details and download: topic 330 regards, Martin. |

Bob Juleff wrote: That's worked a treat! Thanks for your help.Hi Bob, Glad it worked. Make sure you save a copy of the BMP file in C:\TEMPLOT\SHAPE-FILES\ (or wherever you save the BGS file) so that Templot can find it again next time. (No longer necessary in TDV) regards, Martin. |
