Hi Martin,

Is there a facility in TEMPLOT that can be used to draw in baseboard outlines?

In particular can I draw a line from the centre point of a radius so that the rails cross the  baseboard joints tangentially.

Is it possible to identify which centre mark relates to which template?

many thanks for any help or suggestions - at the moment I am trying to draw (in pencil) on a reduced (10%) scale drawing

best wishes

Richard

Hi Richard,

Use the spacing-ring tool as a drawing pen for the background shapes.

There is a bit of Jing video showing how to do what you want in this topic:

If you copy the required template to the control, the radial centre mark shows in a different colour. If you then hold down the HOME key it will flash on and off. :)

regards,

Martin.

Martin,

Many thanks, that's really helpful - I found the rest of the "Circle Segmentation" thread very interesting and it has given me some ideas on baseboard contruction, and Mrs Jones some ideas on new carpets....

Whilst on the subject of baseboards does anyone have any views on the current "percieved wisdom" of material for baseboard tops ie chipboard v plywood (thickness?) v anything else?

best wishes

Richard:)

Hi Richard

I / We

Use ply for all baseboard construction. usually 9mm for ends and a central spine and 4mm 0r 6mm for the rest including the track bed.

Attached is a photo of the underside of one of our club layout baseboards 6ft long by 3ft 3ins wide, it is capable of being lifted single handed.

Hi Richard,

I am at the opposite end of the spectrum from Phil. I use 3/4" plywood overlaid with 1/2" homosote on a 1" x 4" wood frame. But then I do not have to move mine!
