Good Morning All,

I know how to swap end to end the control template using CTRL-N but how can I do the same with grouped templates please ? I have looked through the Keyboard Shortcuts info on the Help Menu without success.

By the way Martyn, just for the record, the Function Key Chart shows CTRL-F10 as SWELL which works fine for me and F10 as K ANGLE which doesn't (my problem, nothing to do with Templot) but the Keyboard Shortcuts list shows CTRL-F10 as ZOOM and F10 as SWELL

Regards,

Dick

Hi Dick,

For a turnout, swapping a template end-for-end swaps the direction from facing to trailing (or back) on the same alignment. For a plain track template it swaps the origin for the rail lengths and sleeper spacings to the opposite end.

I'm a bit puzzled why you would want to do that for an entire group of templates at the same time?

Did you mean a single background template? To do that you must first delete it to the control template, and then store it again afterwards.

On the other hand, I'm guessing that what you really want is to move the peg to the opposite end of one template in a group? If so, click on the template and then the relevant peg/align tools > move peg on background template, and notch under > menu item. If you don't want the notch under it, hold down the SHIFT key while clicking.

If the reason for asking is that you want to adjust the rail lengths and sleeper spacings across template boundaries, there is a function for that. See: http://www.templot.com/martweb/pug_info_2.htm

Scroll down to new roll rails functions and click the info icon or the blue dots.

Yes thanks. Many of the Help texts have not yet been updated for Templot2. It's on the list. :)

The correct keyboard shortcuts can be found by looking at the relevant menu items.

What is your problem with F10? Windows uses F10 to focus the menu bar, but Templot should be by-passing that to use it as a normal shortcut.

regards,

Martin.

Hi Martin,

Thank you for your reply.  I have had an RH 3 way turnout EM gauge.box file  in my files for some while (I forget how I acquired it) which I have converted to 2mm FS.  However it faces the wrong way and I wanted to flip it end to end as it would then be perfect for my requirements.  It seems to consist of four separate (templates ?) which I can group, rotate etc but not flip.  Hence my query.  But no matter, if it can't be done, it can't be done and I'll try to create a new one from scratch  :)

Regarding F10.  I run Templot on Ubuntu Linux using Wine.   F10 opens a  dropdown menu which is purely Ubuntu related.  As I said in my original posting, it's not a fault of Templot  which I think is an excellent programme, it's a quirk of Ubuntu.

So many thanks once again and keep up the good work,
Regards,

Dick

Hi Dick,

Yes, you can flip a group. Flip is called mirror in Templot.

group > mirror group on X at notch | mirror group on Y at notch menu items.

Position the notch somewhere sensible near the group first -- if left on the grid origin the group will be mirrored into the negative quadrants.

Note however that mirror is not the same as swapping end-for-end. The alignment will also be mirrored to create a full mirror image. When swapping end-for-end the alignment with other templates remains unchanged and the turnout is simply reversed within it.

Note also that mirroring changes the hand of a background template but doesn't change its name. So if it was called "LH B-7 to branch bay" it will still be called that even though it is now a right-hand turnout after mirroring.

regards,

Martin.

I just tried F10 in Templot on Ubuntu/Wine and it worked normally -- adjust K-crossing angle mouse action. Assuming of course that the control template is a half-diamond.

What are you seeing which is different?

Anyone else?

Martin.

Hi Martin,
I remember seeing this problem (see previous post), but F10 now works normally for me (adjust K Crossing angle). Currently on Ubuntu 12.04LTS, Templot 2.05.d, Wine installed using Ubuntu Software Centre "wine1.4 1.4-0ubuntu4.1", set to emulate Windows XP.

Graham

Hi Martin,

Many thanks it worked a treat

Martin/Graham,

I am sure that it is a glitch on this computer.  I am running Ubuntu 11.10 at the moment but hope to do a clean upgrade to 12.04 soon.  With any luck this particular problem will go away.  I'll let you know :D

Best regards and many thanks to you both,

Dick
