Thanks to Martin's and other Templotters' help, I have now completed the print out of the templates for Brighton and I claim the prize for the highest pile of templates ever produced for one layout - admittedly on 160gms paper! That page limit is simply the maximum number of pages which can be printed in a single run. If you need more, see output > page origin > multiple output runs > menu items. The area which can be printed in a single run depends on the page size. regards, Martin. |

Being a cheapskate, Ian, I run each page off separately, check it for obvious errors (such as doglegs) which I correct before printing out more. I set the printer to Print Direct to Printer, but a strange phenomenon in that the printer won't start until I've sent the next page to it or hit Omit Remaining Pages F12. I also notice that if I run out of paper after putting say 10 pages into the queue, the print queue includes pages already printed and after loading more paper and pressing the start button, the printer prints all the pages again! It seems to build up a huge print queue and when I printed off about 20 pages in a run a few weeks back, the print queue was several Gbytes in size. That's another reason why I've gone over to printing page by page. I also experience the BSOD when printing a large print run and more often than not a complete crash. Never mind, Windows XP dies next April, so I'll have to consider moving to 7 -or- learning how to use the Ubuntu Linux system that I have on dual boot... after all, I HAVE learnt Templot and even TurboCad so how difficult can it be? Sage, otoh, is completely beyond me. TH p.s. I was trying to upload the .box as requested by JFS, but guess what... the server crashed.. I'll do it tomorrow. |

Tony, I wouldn't say A4 full colour printing is cheap ! I took the easy option of having 1000mm wide roll sheets printed by a reputable local printer, plus it saves on sticking templates together :-) Ian |

Hi TonyWindows XP dies next April, so I'll have to consider moving to 7Windows 8 is the current OS - 7 has been superceded. If you can cope with Templot and TurboCad, you can cope with Win8  Go on, bite the bullet!Just out of curiousity, as you're a self-confessed cheapskate, why print in colour?  By the way, I now never print the whole layout - I keep fiddling with things as I go along, sometimes even during build - see my Shotley gallery, for instance! Cheers |

Ah now that's interesting... I was proposing to move to Win8 but told by my supplier that 8 was for tablets and 7 is for desktops. Not having researched it in any depth I have taken his words at face value! Advice about colour taken on board as is the one about getting a print shop to do a big run... however, that's for future projects, as I am now in the middle of cutting up 112 pages and got to number 24 before realising that I hadn't printed off the background shapes (in my case the baseboard edges). Ho, hum. Anyway, as requested, here is the box file.... Regards Tony |

p.s. I stand humbled at the sight of the Buxton/Ambergate plan and forego my claim to the prize. I saw the layout at Leamington some years ago and it's one of those layouts with depth that you just stand by for hours watching the trains go by. It's great to see it in its new home. |

It's the way it is intended to work and in fact the way all Windows printing works. The printer spooler won't start printing a page until it knows what is to happen afterwards -- i.e. there is another page coming, or finish printing because this is the last or only page. In most Windows programs you must select all the required pages before you start any printing. Templot is a bit more flexible in allowing you to print pages one at a time, but it can't change the way Windows works. You must select the next page before it will print the previous one. That's the reason for the two big buttons, yellow and green. You must click one or other of them if you don't want to click the page buttons for every page. Exactly what happens depends on your printer driver and the spooler settings on the system, which is outside of Templot's control. regards, Martin. |
