Is there an easy way to set up Templot to create templates for Irish narrow gauge (3ft) in Scaleseven? You already have a setting for Irish broad gauge in S7; is there any way of generating templates for mixed gauge track (5' 3" and 3' 0")? yours hopefully Stephen |

Stephen wrote: Is there an easy way to set up Templot to create templates for Irish narrow gauge (3ft) in Scaleseven?Hi Stephen, Yes, Templot can create templates for any gauge or scale, including Irish narrow-gauge. The standard list of gauges is purely a collection of pre-set sizes for convenience. It doesn't contain any pre-set narrow-gauge sizes because of the wide variety of prototypes and scales used for n.g. modelling. For narrow-gauge it is necessary to customize your own templates to your requirements. There is a Templot video showing how to customize templates for narrow-gauge at: customizing narrow-gauge Whether it's easy or not I can't judge -- you do need to know (or invent) some prototype details. See for example my previous reply today: Gn15 template Mixed-gauge templates can be created in the same way as any complex formation, using overlaid partial templates. It's not difficult, but you need a bit of experience with Templot first. Here for example is a mixed-gauge curved crossover in P4 (without side-swap): gwr_mixed_night.png The box file for it is attached below (for Templot version 078e and later). This is what it looks like printed out (at 85%): gwr_mixed_print_a1.png gwr_mixed_print_a2.png regards, Martin. |
