TEMPLOT 3D PLUG TRACK - To get up to speed with this experimental project click here.   To watch an introductory video click here.   See the User Guide at Bexhill West.

  • The Plug Track functions are experimental and still being developed. Some of the earlier pages of this topic are now out-of-date.

For an updated overview of this project see this topic.   For some practical modelling aspects of using Plug Track see Building 3D Track.

The assumption is that you have your own machines on which to experiment, or helpful friends with machines. Please do not send Templot files to commercial laser cutting or 3D printing firms while this project is still experimental, because the results are unpredictable and possibly wasteful.

Some pages of this and other topics include contributions from members who are creating and posting their own CAD designs for 3D printing and laser-cutting. Do not confuse them with Templot's own exported CAD files. All files derived from Templot are © Martin Wynne.

Christmas 2022

Quick reply >
May I wish Martin and all Temploteers, A Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year.

And to you Phil and all members of Templot Club.

Many thanks for all the support and feedback I've received during the last 12 months.

Hard to believe another year has gone by. There have been quite a few since we started -- here is a Templot timeline which may be of interest:

1979 - first primitive code runs on a programmable calculator
1980 - code running on an 8-bit microprocessor with templates plotted manually on graph paper
1988 - running on an Atari ST home computer and printing templates on a 9-pin dot-matrix printer
1997 - ported to a Windows95 PC and printing templates on an inkjet printer
1998 - first public showing at Guildex 98 in Telford
1999 - first release of TemplotZero as a commercial product
2000 - Templot Email Group for users launched on Yahoo
2007 - Templot Club web forum launched to replace Templot Email Group
2011 - TemplotZero withdrawn and replaced with free Templot2
2018 - cut-down version of Templot2 released as open-source code TemplotMEC
2020 - Templot Club moved to new web software
2022 - first usable bits of 3D Plug Track
2023 - more boiled eggs :)

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all.

Martin.
