PLA+ pricing

I am trying to get my head around PLA+ pricing as it seems to change during the day, I thought it might get dearer during the day but that seems not to be the case, I think I have once seen prices rise as I was comparing them

The first roll I brought I paid £21, but since then I look every now and again and there is always offers on different colours, yesterday late afternoon I saw grey was down to £13.99 as I have less than half a reel I decided to buy one

This morning grey is back at £20.99, most colours are £15.95/£16.79 only two are at £20.99, one at £13.56 another £14.27. Most of the colours I would not entertain as I don't want any garish colours

As an experiment I will not refresh the page but open another up later in the day to see if there are any price changes

@Hayfield

Hi John,

Brown is £16.79

Grey is £20.99 -- but with a 20% voucher available which makes it actually £16.79

It's all based on the current market price of kippers. :)

Martin.

As long as it is eSun PLA+ toughened, am I right in assuming any colour would do?
Colour coded jig sizes?
@Steve_Cornford

Hi Steve,

Generally for plastics, dark colours are tougher than light colours. Of the eSun colours I've tried, brown seems to be slightly better at resisting files for the filing jigs.

Not all makes of PLA+ are equal -- eSun seems to be the best of those I've tried. Sunlu/Jayo are more stringy for the timbering bases and not so resistant for the jigs (although they are more tidily wound on the reels than eSun).

But any PLA+ will better than plain PLA.

There are dozens of different filaments out there, it's quite possible that something else entirely would be better for our purposes, but there is no way I can try them all. All I know for sure is that eSun PLA+ works fine and is user-friendly to print.

Happy Christmas to all.

cheers,

Martin.

It seems somehow I have ordered Any Cubic PLA+. as we use the resin from this company I am assuming it will be fine unless someone else tells me differently

Hi Steve,
I had the same Idea of colour coding the jigs, In my case currently all the ESUN range of std colours are Nz$ 31.50 which is about 14.49 pounds. Kippers are also comparative) So I tried E-Sun PLA+ white and I can confirm its not got the same toughness as the black or Brown. I have also tried Sunlu and again I agree with Martin that it's is noticeable less resistant to filing or sanding.

In the end most of mine are now printed in PLA + black and I went with a yellow paint pen, which as per photo makes it clear which Jig is which. I have also marked the top and Btm of the rail on the front filing jigs just to aid correct portioning of the rail in the front jigs.

Also wishing you all a very merry Christmas and a happy New year,
cheers

Yes, only the "F back missing" for a full house, by the way I thought it was a gang of jigs.

Already used the B,C, D which maybe the photo can just pick up, not sure. The longer the filing area the more likely the rail pops out, but with care its all good.
when I have time I will send some photos of the actual filed rails. I am also over the holiday going to have a play with milling the rails, I have an extra wide (38mm) D back for that trial.
cheers
Phil
