TEMPLOT 3D PLUG TRACK - To get up to speed with this experimental project click here.   To watch an introductory video click here.   See the User Guide at Bexhill West.

  • The Plug Track functions are experimental and still being developed. Some of the earlier pages of this topic are now out-of-date.

For an updated overview of this project see this topic.   For some practical modelling aspects of using Plug Track see Building 3D Track.

The assumption is that you have your own machines on which to experiment, or helpful friends with machines. Please do not send Templot files to commercial laser cutting or 3D printing firms while this project is still experimental, because the results are unpredictable and possibly wasteful.

Some pages of this and other topics include contributions from members who are creating and posting their own CAD designs for 3D printing and laser-cutting. Do not confuse them with Templot's own exported CAD files. All files derived from Templot are © Martin Wynne.

Be thankful you don't drive in the USA.

Some great humour in this guy's vidoes. Andy B may be familiar with some of the issues. Plenty more about what went wrong with zoning laws, car dependency and urban sprawl in the USA on the channel.

I will watch that, when I get back home and people drive on the proper side of the road, ie. The left. I am pretty sure similar events are happening here in Canada, with the horn blowing and some of the foul language coming out of drivers open windows, suprisingly mostly female drivers.

Fortunately where we are we can drive for many hundreds of miles before we encounter anything like that. The Salt Lake City area is pretty bad but that's one right turn and 700 miles away :)

The very light traffic on the upper reaches of I-15 where it runs along the Continental Divide can be a bit intimidating, particularly in Winter.

Some years ago I came across the Wikipedia "list of countries by traffic related death rate" page

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_traffic-related_death_rate#List

and found that if I drove a car in the USA my chances of death by car accident were many times that of driving in my home country (Australia). Be thankful that you don't have to drive in the USA.

Those numbers are a bit out of date but I suspect the US is still much worse. One thing that amazes me here is how many people refuse to wear seat-belts. A large number of fatalities can be attributed to that. Another one here is cell-phone distraction.
