TEMPLOT 3D PLUG TRACK - To get up to speed with this experimental project click here.   To watch an introductory video click here.   See the User Guide at Bexhill West.

  • The Plug Track functions are experimental and still being developed. Some of the earlier pages of this topic are now out-of-date.

For an updated overview of this project see this topic.   For some practical modelling aspects of using Plug Track see Building 3D Track.

The assumption is that you have your own machines on which to experiment, or helpful friends with machines. Please do not send Templot files to commercial laser cutting or 3D printing firms while this project is still experimental, because the results are unpredictable and possibly wasteful.

Some pages of this and other topics include contributions from members who are creating and posting their own CAD designs for 3D printing and laser-cutting. Do not confuse them with Templot's own exported CAD files. All files derived from Templot are © Martin Wynne.

Saving Templot Videos that don't have a Download Link; also Templot Companion

Hello Martin,

I notice that some of the (excellent, by the way) Templot Videos don't have download links; as I'd like to download and save the full set (I've already done all those except the ones with no link) I was wondering if there's any method of doing so?
Two that are of particular interest at the moment are:

https://flashbackconnect.com/Movie.aspx?id=z3LZpZ1HyGx4Mzpft5UXUA2 (Scruff - Curviform Double Junction)

and:

https://flashbackconnect.com/Movie.aspx?id=ib65pLfUkgNxFBDqAZSNyA2 (Scruff - transition diamond-crossing).

I did find that some videos came up with a black screen and a message to say they were no longer available; I assume this is because the contents are no longer valid due to Templot Program Updates?

Also, is there a way of saving the entire contents of the Templot Companion (i.e. all the help pages, such as https://85a.uk/templot/companion/swell_function_ctrl_f10.php in one go? Previously I have simply copied and pasted some Topic pages into a Word File, but if there was a quick way to do the full set then it would be very useful.

Many thanks
Kind Regards,
Brian

@polybear

Hi Brian,

Many of the videos have interactive content -- "read the text then click to continue", etc. This doesn't work if you download an MP4 file and play it anywhere else, making the video meaningless.

Most of the videos can be downloaded in FBR format. It should be all of them -- let me know which ones can't (not available on some very old ones).

However, to watch FBR video you need the FlashBack Pro player -- currently available at Black Friday price of £21, see:

https://www.flashbackrecorder.com/store/

At present there is no easy way to save the entire Templot Companion from your browser. That's intentional so that you are always referring to the latest up-to-date pages, and not something you saved months/years ago.

However, I can send you a PDF of the entire Companion if you want it. Please ensure it is deleted and not shared with anyone when it becomes out-of-date.

Martin.

Many thanks Martin; a pdf would be excellent please - and I promise NEVER to share it (I'll save it with a modified File name starting "NEVER SHARE THIS").

Kind Regards,
Brian
