TEMPLOT 3D PLUG TRACK - To get up to speed with this experimental project click here.   To watch an introductory video click here.   See the User Guide at Bexhill West.

  • The Plug Track functions are experimental and still being developed. Some of the earlier pages of this topic are now out-of-date.

For an updated overview of this project see this topic.   For some practical modelling aspects of using Plug Track see Building 3D Track.

The assumption is that you have your own machines on which to experiment, or helpful friends with machines. Please do not send Templot files to commercial laser cutting or 3D printing firms while this project is still experimental, because the results are unpredictable and possibly wasteful.

Some pages of this and other topics include contributions from members who are creating and posting their own CAD designs for 3D printing and laser-cutting. Do not confuse them with Templot's own exported CAD files. All files derived from Templot are © Martin Wynne.

Hi Martin/Guys,
I have just noticed (after trying unsuccessfully to print some 3D bases) that there has been some new tick boxes on the 3D print export drop down.
What is the purpose of the tick box "shrink gauge multi"? because without realising it I left it ticked and couldn't work ot why the printed base although looked ok in the print preview, came out about 2/3 the size it should have.
regards Chris

Hi Chris,

That function is for creating rafts of chairs, not for timbering bases.

If the box is ticked, the track gauge is automatically shrunk to save space on the resin printer build plate. It is automatically restored afterwards.

I'm afraid that while this project is still experimental, there is no option other than to read every post on Templot Club if you want to keep up with developments. Only yesterday I posted a video clip showing the store and shift multi function being used, see:

There have been several previous posts about the store and shift multi function.

cheers,

Martin.

Hi Martin, Thanks for the reply,
I know about the STORE AND SHIFT MULTI function for the chairs and have used it in my trials.
Not having noticed the SHRINK GAUGE MULTI check box before,I assumed it was new.
I dont know what happened (or more likely what I did or didn't do) to cause the bases to print smaller than they should have been.
regards Chris
