The Plug Track functions are experimental and still being developed. Some of the earlier pages of this topic are now out-of-date.
For an updated overview of this project see this topic. For some practical modelling aspects of using Plug Track see Building 3D Track.
The assumption is that you have your own machines on which to experiment, or helpful friends with machines. Please do not send Templot files to commercial laser cutting or 3D printing firms while this project is still experimental, because the results are unpredictable and possibly wasteful.

I just tried using these two options and notice that the vehicle does not clear the platform edge. Whilst I am sure that this can be resolved manually it would be ideal if it could be automated?
I'm not sure what you are asking. Do you want some means to move the track alongside an existing platform, or to move the platform to clear the vehicle?
You can see the clearance envelope for the dummy vehicle by clicking the generate outline envelope button:
The yellow area is the envelope swept by the dummy vehicle body, and the violet line shows the clearance space each side (which can be set to whatever width you want).
Sorry, there aren't any functions to use this data automatically, it is intended as a visual guide to clearances on the screen.
There are two possible options. You could generate a platform edge using dummy centre-line template(s), using transitions and slews to match the purple line as closely as possible.
Or you could increase the platform front edge spacing until it clears everywhere along the track, which will possibly mean a wider gap in some places than others:
