The assumption is that you have your own machines on which to experiment, or helpful friends with machines. Please do not send Templot files to commercial laser cutting or 3D printing firms while this project is still experimental, because the results are unpredictable and possibly wasteful.

Issue with bolt heads on Bridge chairs

Inspired by @James Walters fantastic videos, I've been experimenting with producing some plug-track chairs for a 7mm scale project. I had a go before Christmas, but had an issue with the bolt heads back then, which I posted about on RMWeb at the time (that post is here). @Martin Wynne kindly replied to that thread & suggested I'd somehow duplicated the parts, and that's why I was getting the star-shaped bolt heads.

I hadn't at that stage got my printer set up, so I just left it. I've now got the printer set up & working, so have recently tried again. I've followed James' video (s2e37) again multiple times now, and had the same issue every time.

I've just tried again, but this time created both L1 bridge chairs and some S1 chairs, too. I followed exactly the same procedure for both. The issue remains with the L1 chairs, but doesn't happen with the S1 chairs, which leads me to conclude that it must be therefore be a glitch of some sort with the L1 chairs:

I'm using the latest version (2.44.c). I have attached the BOX file for reference.

Any help/guidance would be appreciated.

Jonathan

Hi Jonathan,

Welcome to Templot Club. :)

How did you create the L1 raft? I think you may have found a bug.

The L1 chairs on those templates are being duplicated because rails 2 and 4 are overlapping rails 1 and 3.

Rails 2 and 4 should not exist on plain track templates.

As a temporary work-around you can omit the chairs on rails 2 and 4 via the chair heaving:

If you do that on the first template before doing store and shift multi, it should solve the problem.

I will look further into this. Thanks for reporting it.

p.s. which rail section are you using for 7mm/ft scale? If you haven't set a rail section it will be upscaling the default EMGS code 75 section. The dimensions for C&L code 131 rail will be in the next Templot update, 244d, shortly. More about all this at:

cheers

Martin.

Martin,

Thanks for the welcome!

"How did you create the L1 raft?"

I used the rectangle option in the shapes menu, as per James's video.

"I think you may have found a bug."

Cool 😎 Do I get a prize? 🤣🤣🤣

"As a temporary work-around you can omit the chairs on rails 2 and 4 via the chair heaving:"

Ok, I'll try that, and report back.

"p.s. which rail section are you using for 7mm/ft scale?"

I'm using Peco code 124 rail - I changed the rail profile in the menu.
