TEMPLOT 3D PLUG TRACK - To get up to speed with this experimental project click here.   To watch an introductory video click here.   See the User Guide at Bexhill West.

  • The Plug Track functions are experimental and still being developed. Some of the earlier pages of this topic are now out-of-date.

For an updated overview of this project see this topic.   For some practical modelling aspects of using Plug Track see Building 3D Track.

The assumption is that you have your own machines on which to experiment, or helpful friends with machines. Please do not send Templot files to commercial laser cutting or 3D printing firms while this project is still experimental, because the results are unpredictable and possibly wasteful.

Some pages of this and other topics include contributions from members who are creating and posting their own CAD designs for 3D printing and laser-cutting. Do not confuse them with Templot's own exported CAD files. All files derived from Templot are © Martin Wynne.

My kind of destination.

I know this area well. And another few weeks progress with my arm should see me heading this way again. It's been too long.

Martin.
Still bullhead rail I see.
the video reminds me. Back in 1986 I had the great privilege of being a member of the support crew who took 1054 the coal tank from Dinting to the seven valley Railway, via British rail metals as they where then. (not many people know but back in 1986 the coal tank was the oldest mainline approved loco). Anyway for a large part of the route we took the Welsh Marches route from Crewe via Shrewsbury to Hereford. we took water at Craven arms, which is where the heart of wales line joins the welsh marches line. I was on the footplate from Craven arms to Hereford. which was fanatic, happy memories.
cheers

All the above got me thinking/remembering, how did we get to Kidderminster? Well we overnighted at the Bulmer railway center (alas now gone) they had a triangle, which allowed us to turn 1054 from facing South to North facing, the next morning we ran Hereford, to Worcester taking water again, then onto Kidderminster. In truth because the coal tank has such a small coal bunker, we had a lot of coal in sacks in the support coach, so coal sack emptying, was the main job of the support team.

Only 400 subscribers on this channel, but it has become one of my favourites. Another calming relaxed voice from Chris who takes an innocent pleasure in the ordinary. And you get to see a bit of the railway network. I don't know anything about the cars, but they always look very smart:
