TEMPLOT 3D PLUG TRACK - To get up to speed with this experimental project click here.   To watch an introductory video click here.   See the User Guide at Bexhill West.

  • The Plug Track functions are experimental and still being developed. Some of the earlier pages of this topic are now out-of-date.

    For an updated overview of this project see this topic.   For some practical modelling aspects of using Plug Track see Building 3D Track.

    The assumption is that you have your own machines on which to experiment, or helpful friends with machines. Please do not send Templot files to commercial laser cutting or 3D printing firms while this project is still experimental, because the results are unpredictable and possibly wasteful.

    Some pages of this and other topics include contributions from members who are creating and posting their own CAD designs for 3D printing and laser-cutting. Do not confuse them with Templot's own exported CAD files. All files derived from Templot are © Martin Wynne.

Hi Martin,

I'm trying to add a bgs file to a message in Western Thunder. bgs is listed as supported, but when I get the Templot_Dev screen up, there is no bgs file and there's none in the shape either, I don't know if this is a Templot or Western Thunder problem.

Thanks

@Phil O

Hi Phil,

BGS files are obsolete. Have been for 4 years. Your background shapes are now in BGS3 files. Maybe Western Thunder hasn't updated its allowed files list?

You should find your BGS3 files in TEMPLOT_DEV > SHAPE-FILES

If you can't upload them directly in Western Thunder, try zipping them first.

Alternatively put the BGS3 files in a post here on Templot Club. You can then post a link to it, and Western Thunder members should be able to come here and download the BGS3 files.

To get a link to a post on here, click the Share icon above it on the right, and then click the Copy icon:

You can then paste it into a post.

cheers,

Martin.
