Nothing to do with Templot other than 3-D printing. If you have a 3-D printer (or you know someone who does) you might be able to produce your own gears rather than buy them (usually they are not cheap).
I have printed some repro Tri-ang 20:1 two-start worm gears and I've been playing around with helical gearing. I'm using TurboCAD and it did most of the work but there might be other inexpensive (or free) software that can do the same thing.
