  • The Plug Track functions are experimental and still being developed. Some of the earlier pages of this topic are now out-of-date.

For an updated overview of this project see this topic.   For some practical modelling aspects of using Plug Track see Building 3D Track.

The assumption is that you have your own machines on which to experiment, or helpful friends with machines. Please do not send Templot files to commercial laser cutting or 3D printing firms while this project is still experimental, because the results are unpredictable and possibly wasteful.

Some pages of this and other topics include contributions from members who are creating and posting their own CAD designs for 3D printing and laser-cutting. Do not confuse them with Templot's own exported CAD files. All files derived from Templot are © Martin Wynne.

A new Templot program update is now available. Version 244b.

Your copy of Templot should update automatically if you restart it and follow the instructions. There is no need to uninstall your existing copy of Templot.

If you are still using Templot version 227a , the automatic update will fail due to a program glitch.
Sorry about that -- please download and install version 244b manually from:
https://85a.uk/templot/companion/manual_update.php

Changes in 244b:

Only 2 changes:

1. track planning: By toggling the keyboard Scroll-Lock key ON, you can prevent a background template being selected when clicked on. This is useful when working with multiple overlaid partial templates.

index.php

Templates can still be selected in the usual way by Shift+click or Caps-Lock+click on their name labels.

More info: https://85a.uk/templot/club/index.p...lock-to-prevent-template-selection-click.888/

2. 3D plug track: There was bug in 244a when using the mouse actions for timber shoving, while experimental chairing was in force. Now fixed.

Please let me know if you spot anything wrong.

cheers,

Martin.
