The assumption is that you have your own machines on which to experiment, or helpful friends with machines. Please do not send Templot files to commercial laser cutting or 3D printing firms while this project is still experimental, because the results are unpredictable and possibly wasteful.

Track centre lines into an Engine Shed?

Hello,
Can anyone suggest any typical prototype spacing between track centre lines into an Engine Shed please? (in this case a large 4-road shed). Of course the obvious answer would be "it all depends on the Shed they're going into" - but as this layout won't be based on an actual prototype location and I'm in the track planning stage I'm unsure what a good starter for ten would be please.
Many thanks
Brian

Hi Brian:

I don't think there is a standard spacing within engine sheds. Here is a typical shed drawing -- the tracks appear to be at 15ft centres (60mm at 4mm/ft):

Obviously it needs to be more than standard 6ft-way to allow safe working for staff around locomotives.

cheers,

Martin.
