The assumption is that you have your own machines on which to experiment, or helpful friends with machines. Please do not send Templot files to commercial laser cutting or 3D printing firms while this project is still experimental, because the results are unpredictable and possibly wasteful.

Missing symbols in trackpad

Hi Martin,

I think this is a bug! I've just opened a box file (attached) in 2.43a and no symbols are showing on the trackpad. The 'show symbols' menu item is ticked. The control template does show symbols, and when stored symbols then show on the resulting background template. If I delete an existing template to control, then store it, again symbols now show.

Any ideas?

Cheers,
Paul

Hi Paul,

That's definitely a bug. :( Many thanks for reporting it.

If you normalize all templates after loading, you should get them showing:

I will get it fixed. Thanks again.

cheers,

Martin.

Hi Martin, I'm not sure if this is another bug or an intended action, but normalising the templates loses any marker colours! I can see I'll be keeping Templot open for as long as possible for now :)

Hi Paul,

Oh dear, sorry about that. :(

Before normalizing you need to set this option:

Sorry I didn't answer sooner, I've had a busy evening.

I will get it all fixed in the next update.

cheers,

Martin.

Thanks! I am gradually getting back into model railways, having finally finished my negatives scanning project*. I've been working out where I'd got to, and decided to make a change to an area that I was never really happy with, before re-laying to 9mm gauge. The bullhead area will mean more timber bricks, but unlikely to be plug track as that section would need to be re-drawn to 3mm scale to get the right size chairs.

Just to irritate me, after hibernating my PC last night with Templot still open, Microsoft decided to restart my PC overnight for an update! To compound the issue, when it does that it leaves the PC on all night, eating my electricity!

Cheers,
Paul

*4000+ frames mainly over a 20 year period from 1983 to 2003, each of which had basic negative conversion done then keywords and GPS co-ordinates added - it was the latter that took a fair bit of detective work (time) in many cases. Still about 30 photos where I have no idea where they were taken other than the county!

Hi Martin,

Following on from this, I've discovered a related bug whereby if a group of templates is moved, the symbols stay behind. Normalising the templates puts the symbols back in the right place.

Not a problem for now, but I thought I'd better mention it!

Cheers,
Paul

@Paul Boyd

Hi Paul,

Thanks for reporting it.

I did notice that and a few other related bugs when fixing the first one. It should all be working again in the next update.

Hopefully. :)

cheers,

Martin.
